Return to The Shooting Gallery
The maps and floorplans that appeared in the first two books are used in The Shooting Gallery as well. They can be seen on the Barr’s Meadow and Poker Club web pages.
One new map appears in The Shooting Gallery—it is a zoom-in section of the Camp Walker map:
a note about the role of The Shooting Gallery in the LJR series...
The plot thickens... The thumbnail summary of Part 3 on the Brief Description Page is not absolutely complete, but the major events are given mention. As the center section of a five part set, The Shooting Gallery has the complex task of holding the two halves together while having an existence all its own. The title is the giveaway on that subject.
But since we are well into things, the reader is given some treats that, like the boy who gets to stay up an extra hour when he turns thirteen, he is ready to savor—
• Comic relief
• Secret background stories
• Follow through and progression
• Richer narrative texture, overall
And, for the analytically minded, the thematic turning point is where it’s supposed to be, right at the end of the first week. The end is foretold, but the details are withheld, of course.
If it is your misfortune not to have read either Part 1 or Part 2, you will be at a disadvantage. The synopsis at the end will help there, but that is second best.
